Wrexham have been called out for their January transfer business by the dad of one of their own players.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney splashed the cash in a bid to secure promotion to the Championship this season.
Phil Parkinson's side are chasing a third consecutive promotion after rising from the National League to League One in the last two years.
As a result, Wrexham spent £2million to sign striker Sam Smith from Reading during the mid-season window.
Former Burnley forward Jay Rodriguez was also recruited to boost the promotion push.
However, the pair have since scored just one goal between them in a combined 14 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, fellow striker Ollie Palmer has featured just once in the Red Dragons' last nine matches across all competitions.
He was absent from the matchday squad once again during the 1-0 win over Huddersfield, where both Smith and Rodriguez started in attack but drew a blank while substitute Steven Fletcher netted the winner.
Palmer was similarly missing against Bolton on Saturday, which prompted a reaction from his dad Andy on social media.
Andy took to X after Smith and Rodriguez were both substituted in the 78th minute of the goalless draw and wrote: "They were a good buy."

At full-time, Andy then added: "PP (Phil Parkinson) and SP (Steve Parkin) need to swallow their pride.
"Need to look at the team they had before Christmas!! That team got them to where they are now…just saying. Maybe a Smith and Palmer upfront."
The draw leaves Wrexham third in the table, two points adrift of Wycombe with 13 matches remaining.
A win at Huddersfield on Tuesday night could lift the club into the automatic promotion places.
Palmer also shared his own cryptic post on social media over the weekend.
The 33-year-old uploaded a series of snaps to Instagram including one of his number nine shirt and another showing him on the pitch.
In the caption, he wrote: "Been a minute," along with a dice emoji.
Palmer has scored 42 goals in 149 appearances for Wrexham since signing from Wimbledon in 2022.
During that time, he has been part of the club's two promotions under the ownership of Reynolds and McElhenney.
Prior to being dropped from the squad this season, Palmer scored three goals in 27 League One appearances.
Those three strikes came in home wins over Reading, Shrewsbury and Exeter earlier in the campaign.
Promotion this season would see Wrexham return to the second tier for the first time in 43 years following relegation back in 1982.
